Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

My husband was arrested for dui, hit and run, injury to another in CA...if he is sued by the injured party will i be responsible financially? will they come for my money and tax returns if he does not have a job? we were/still are separated.

A spouse is not 'responsible' for criminal conduct of the other spouse, but if the other party gets a judgment against your husband, they can levy on any community property you have an interest in, unless you already had a property settlement agreement confirmed by the divorce court. Joint tax returns are likely community property. Your own income is not.
