Yes if they have a judgment against you. They can take your property, garnish your wages, levy your bank account, put a lien on real estate in your name and make you go to go to answer questions unde oath about your income and assets (and if you don't go you can be arrested for contempt of court). They can also subpoena your records once a case is filed against you although you can object in certain cases. It would do no good if a person or company had a judgment against you and the person or company could not collect on it using the power of the court to enforce it.
