Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

My employer just called me asking if i was buying a car because someone sent over an employment verification. He sent the paper back to them and told me it had my signature at the bottom but also said it looked like they took my signature off of something else. I didn't sign that paper so if they infact copied it from somewhere else I had signed is that forgery and what can I do about it?

I would suggest the following: 1) place a hold on all three credit reporting agencies; (they usually will give a password to make it more difficult for someone to access a credit report and approve its release to another); 2) notify the car dealer or requesting agency that it's not your signature and it's a forgery; 3) report it to law enforcement; and 4) get a copy of your credit reports to make sure nothing else is amiss.
