Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Can I sue a person for nonpayment on a personal loan?

I loaned a person $10,000.00 to help pay their mortgage and utilities. It was a verbal agreement but I have the payments recorded in my bank records.

Can I sue them or take them to small claims court?

Thank you

Yes. That would be an appropriate case for small claims which has a limit of $10,000
