Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I'm being sued by a loan company that took over for an old loan company I was using 3 years ago. I could not pay my loans due to financial hardship back then and now the new loan company is suing me! What do I do?

You have 30 days from the date the complaint was served upon you to file a responsive pleading with the court and serve a copy on the creditor's attorney. That will put you in a better position to try to negotiate a smaller payment.
