Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I was at the checkpoint in San Diego, CA near Tecate New Mexico border line and had my car seized /forfeiture and was also arrested under the suspicion of transporting immigrants using my vehicle. Originally I was there to give a ride to 3 individuals whom i assumed were u s citizens was the extent of my knowledge. At the checkpoint, I admitted to transporting people but was unaware they were immigrants. I told the truth and gave them permission to go thru my phone. No actual evidence cited i was in-the-know for what I was Doing was illegal. . Arrested and processed for 24 hours and released with no receipt or copy of my personal possesions that were in my car. Let alone any type of document concerning my arrest . Is there any way I would be able to get my car back?
