Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I have a court date in one month for a misdemeanor of battery of a police officer and I need to know if I should look into hiring a lawyer?

You have 2 choices....1) PD. (Public Defender)....or 2) Retain an expert criminal defense team....It will depend on whether or not you care about the outcome. Public Defenders have 15 to 25 cases a day, and, in my experienced, due to the workload, simply can't put in the time on a case, as can a good criminal defense team. If you have the resources you should try to retain a private criminal attorney to represent you. Speak to a couple of attorneys and try to find one that has significant experiance and who will personally represent you and not just hand the case of to another less qualified attorney.
