Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Is faking your own death illegal?

I'm a writer, and I have a character who tried to frame an old enemy for his own murder. He killed someone else so that he could have a body. Now, years after his enemy was aquitted, he is going to return. What legal implications will he face - other then the obvious possible murder charge?

Re: Is faking your own death illegal?

When he returns the police will investigate the identity of the body that was found and then how that person died.
