Can you move to another state while on probation

I have a friend who lives out in Cali. and wants to move to another state. How hard is that to do and is it allowed?

Re: Can you move to another state while on probation

If he/she's on probation and not parole from prison then it's not difficult at all.

Probation is informal and formal. If he/she is on informal then they leave the State like anyone else. If they get into trouble anywhere, they are supposed to write the judge that put them on probation and report the crime they are charged with. That doesn't change. They may write the judge after leaving the state and report their new address. But I don't believe that is required. Tell them to read their copy of the probation papers that they signed.

If they are on formal probation they'll need to clear it with their probation officer.
