Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I have a prior petty theft misdomenor 5 yrs a go. Now caught a case i was charged as 496d(a) but changed to a vc 10851 (a) now what can i do or what am i looming at and how can.i fight it and if i was only charged for a 496d(a) then was changed to 10851(a) and some how threw 2 HS counts on me that wasnt charged on my ticket how will that stick if that was not in my possesion how am.i gonna be charged for something thats not mine.
