"got a misdemeanor infraction"

If you were charged and are now going through court on that, then it shouldn't be a 'probation violation' since the incident/arrest was before probation was ordered. However, the arrest should have, and probably was, disclosed in your 'rap sheet' check done in every criminal case before sentencing. Meaning, the probation probably stands ok.

The new misdemeanor charges have to be dealt with in court, and your lawyer will have to argue for you against probation violation, and try to negotiate to either get you a deal acceptable to you, or take it to trial. With a prior conviction/probation, the new charges will be harder to get a 'good' outcome. Hire an experienced attorney. If serious about doing so, contact me for a free consult at 714-960-7584.
