You need a lawyer NOW. Do not speak to a detective when you are a suspect in a criminal matter. If I have learned anything in my 27 years in criminal law, and being a Former Deputy District Attorney, it's that you should never speak to law enforcement when you are being accused of a crime. I wish you well......David Wallin

You are being 'asked nicely' to come 'discuss' your problem. Translation: come on in so we can arrest and jail you without having to go find and get you. You are free to comply, but at least exercise the 5th Amendment right to SHUT UP and do NOT talk to police or anyone about the case except with and through an attorney. Instead, your should hire an attorney to defend you in the criminal charges, and let him take you to court to deal with the warrant, rather than you spending several days in jail waiting to be transported there in an orange jump suit.

If you don't know how to represent yourself effectively against an experienced prosecutor intending to convict, then hire an attorney who does, who will try to get a dismissal, charge reduction, diversion, programs, or other decent outcome through motions, plea bargain, or take it to trial if appropriate. If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me. Ill be happy to help fight and get the best outcome possible, using whatever defenses and sympathies there may be. Ive been doing these cases for many years.

You definitely need an attorney with you, who should not allow to say anything except, "How about them Lakers!"

Your attorney should tell the police politely that you respect law enforcement, but that you are exercising your Fifth Amendment right to remain silent.

No judge issued a warrant for you to go to the police station to talk to an officer. If a warrant was issued it was for your arrest and you will be arrested of you go to the station. Under no condition should you speak to a police officer. An attorney should do all of the talking.
