Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I was robbed and my Breitling watch was stolen, valued at $10,000. I called the police, filed a report. A few weeks later, the detective assigned to my case found my watch at a local pawn shop. It was pawned on the day I was robbed, less than 5 blocks away from where it happened. I went down to the pawn shop with the detective, identified the watch as mine. Its now on hold. I was told by the detective that I might have to pay the pawn shop to recover their loss. $500.

Who takes the loss? Myself, the victim, or the pawn shop? Do I really have to pay to get it back? Isnt it stolen property?

What options do I have? I was always under the assumption the pawn shops take the loss?

Having to pay to retrieve my stolen property... is ridiculous. I'm happy to have found my watch, but their must be options...? In the meantime, the detectives are trying to track down the individual whom sold the watch to the shop.

HELP!

What does you insurance say? What is the deductible? If the pawn shop were a bona Fidel purchaser, you may heave to lay to recover...500 for 10,000 is an ok deal. It is not the best place to be...if they can catch the guy and convict you may be entitled to restitution my advice get the watch then deal with how to recover your loss.
