Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

If I sold something on Craigslist, but the customer has filed a police report against me claiming that I scammed them, what should I do? (Got a letter from the police requesting a phone call.)

As a Former Deputy District Attorney, I've handled these types of cases for over 28 years, I can tell you to NEVER SPEAK WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT when you are the suspect in a criminal investigation. You should immediately contact an experienced attorney, so your lawyer can speak to law enforcement, on your behalf, to try to get charges not filed. Most criminal defense firms offer free consultations, as do we, so make a call . I wish you well.....David Wallin

No attorney who knows what he or she is doing ever advises a person to speak to the police. People think that they can talk themselves out of criminal charges, but end up making it worse. Get a criminal defense attorney.

A little free advice if not already too late: exercise the 5th Amendment right to SHUT UP and do NOT talk to police or ANYONE about the case except with and through an attorney. If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me. Ill be happy to help fight and get the best outcome possible, using whatever defenses and sympathies there may be.
