Legal Question in Discrimination Law in California

im 18 born june 29th 1994 i got with my girlfriend on april 4th of 2012 she was born december 25th of 1996 so she is a minor but i was with her before i turned 18 after i turned 18 i had asked her parents permission to continue dating their daughter they allowed us to continue dating. my question is, is my relationship legal me and my girlfriend agreed to break up because she is afraid i will get in trouble with the law today october 14th of 2012 we broke up i will continue being her friend but we do plan on getting back together once shes 18, me and my girlfriend are not sexually active, we never were and we dnt plan to be we both have high morals and beliefs we wish to remain pure (virgins) until marriage. her aunt had told her parents that she has a lot of police frinds and she had asked about our relationship and the police have told her it is still illegal but from what i been reading from other websites is we are legal so now i want a clear answer. is my relationship legal?

The only thing against the law is sexual conduct between a minor and any other person (yes, if both are minors, they each are committing statutory rape if they have sex). If your relationship is non-sexual, there is nothing illegal about it.
