Legal Question in DUI Law in California

I currently got a 2nd DUI in the state of Arizona. They want me to pay 8000 dollars and go to county jail for 5 months. I was wondering If I leave the country, and not come back will I be extradited back to the US from Thailand. And If I ever choose to come back say for a couple weeks for a friends wedding, would I be stopped at the airport coming back into the U.S.? Or Would I only be extradited if I got pulled over or caught by the law?

No, you won't likely be extradited from overseas, BUT you can not come back into the US without being arrested at the border on the warrant.

I agree with Mr. Nelson. I don't believe that Arizona has the resources to extradite someone from overseas. However, I'm curious as to the terms you have expressed. $8,000.00 dollars and 5 months sounds like a lot of money and time for a 2nd DUI. Although I'm not a licensed attorney in Arizona are you sure that you understand the terms correctly? If you do understand the terms correctly then there is probably more to this case than a simple DUI.

Next, Mr. Nelson is also absolutely correct about coming back. You show up at the border and that warrant will stick out immediately and you will be arrested.

I suggest you discuss this with an Attorney in Arizona and find out your options.

Good luck
