Legal Question in DUI Law in California

I was arrested for DUI. The officer asked me if I would submit to a blood test. I said yes. I was taken to the hospital under handcuff for my blood test. Now I get a bill from the hospital for several thousands of dollars for this service. Why am I being billed since I was taken forcefully?

Who is billing you? The hospital can recover reasonable costs for the blood draw, about $500. If it is the police, thenn under LIMITED circumstances they can recover for their costs under Government Code 53150.
