Legal Question in DUI Law in California

I crashed a rental car, I had full coverage insurance with 0 deductible from the rental company..... I crashed it in to a canyon in a middle of no where....

I was drunk and ran away from the car, about thirty min later while i was walking the Highway patrol stopped me, and i told them that my car was stolen by a 2 hick hiker that i picked up and he threw me out and drove away....

The cops didn't buy my story and told me u probably crashed ur car because u are obviously very intoxicated... but i stuck to my story.......they searched me and put me in the back of their car... we went looking for my car for about forty min, thank God we didnt find it.....then they gave me a breathalyzer test and i blew .19.... then they took me home and told me im lucky.............the next they the car rental told me they found the car... but they need a police statement... so the same cops called me and told me want to come get a statement from me... what should i do? should i plead the fifth or not answer their pone call or what? thanku

You should NOT speak to law enforcement or to the rental company. You should immediately contact an expert criminal defense team, with experience in these matters. I can assure you, as a Former Deputy District Attorney, my office has handled many cases like yours, and the more your talk, the more trouble you will get yourself in. Most criminal defense teams offer free consultations, so make a call to a criminal defense team, at once. I hoe that helps......David Wallin
