Legal Question in DUI Law in California

Got a DUI misdemeanor 2 years ago left the state due to financial circumstances did not appear at court because I never received the letter in the mail thought charges were dropped due to lack of evidence I live in Florida now nd I have to get an sr 22 to drive legally but I dont want to plea guilty by doing so need some advice
