suing advice in regards to a videographer

can i sue a videographer for poor

services? and if there was no contract

just word of mouth? and i havent

received any results in 5 months? i've

been in contact but she keeps

postponing the delivery date.

First, oral contracts are just as valid as written contracts. The difficulty, of course, is in proving the terms. If someone hires a photographer to shoot videos in exchange for payment, that would be a contract. It could be assumed that the work was to have been delivered within a reasonable period of time and within a certain standard of quality. Whether five months is reasonable would be up to the court to decide depending on the circumstances.

But before you resort to suing this person, you should write a letter to her expressing your dissatisfaction, what you would like her to do to resolve it, and your deadline for her to respond. If that doesn't work, then you might consider suing.
