Legal Question in Family Law in California

In California, does the original child support court order still need to be current to fight for arrears from an ex-spouse? My ex spouse wants to fight me for arrears from almost a decade ago when she had primary custody and I was paying her child support. I was foolishly paying her cash and didn't keep a paper trail. I now have had primary custody of our child for the past three years. The papers were changed in 2011 and she is currently paying me child support. I also have 97% custody. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

An order can be modified, but you may still owe arrears. You may want an attorney to review the orders, or seek the help of the family law facilitator at the courthouse nearest you.
