In California, if separated from my husband can I change my will?

If you are the testator you can change your will at any time, regardless of your marriage situation.

If you want to totally exclude him, however, you need special language. Also bear in mind that he will get any community property regardless of what your will says. So until you get a divorce judgment dividing the community property, he'll get all the community property if you die first.
