Consenting to an Order to Show Cause

A friend who is currently serving time in state prison was served with an Order to Show Cause. The mother of his child is trying to prevent him from seeing his daughter when he is recleased from prison in July of this year. Since he is not in the best position at this time can he simply consent to the order and then seek visitation rights with the help of an atty once he has been released. Will consenting now make it difficult later? Also, will consenting remove the case from the calendar (currently scheduled for 1/24/06.

Apparently it's a difficult and stressfull process for him to appear in court while in the custody of the state and he'd rather seek visitation rights once he is in a better position.
