Legal Question in Family Law in California

I earn the money in my household. My pay is direct deposited into a joint account with my husband. He continues to withdraw money before bills are paid. If I open an account, in my name only, for the sole purpose of paying our bills, will doing so relinquish any of his obligation to these debts once we are divorced?

Your earnings are community property regardless of which account you put them in. Putting them in an account in your name would only protect them from creditors seeking payment of any of his premarital obligations. That would not change any community obligation to repay a community debt.
