Legal Question in Family Law in California

I'm about to file for devorce and I'm wondering if by law do I have to apply an inheritance money that was given to me by my brother . As child support . Is there a law that protects my inheritance if I get the money after filing for devorce or before filing .

A gift or inheritance given to you during the course of the marriage is your separate property. With that being said, if that sum of money produces income, the income from that resource can be a target for calculating support.
