Legal Question

Asked on: 4/14/13, 7:33 pm

I just filed for Divorce in California and the date of separation is Jan 1st. Can I get my own bank account now to start to save money for when I move out and will that be considered separate not community property?

Any earnings produced after separation is the separate property of that spouse.

I agree with Ms. Kock. Getting your own bank account now is a good idea.
