Legal Question in Family Law in California

I filed an RFO with exhibits. The clerk said the exhibits had to be lodged 10 days prior to the hearing. I asked if I wait until then to serve the exhibits on the other party as well and she said yes. The other party is saying that I need to get the exhibits to them asap. I cannot find any information online telling me when exhibits need to be served to the other party. Our hearing is set for November 20, 2014 with an FCS date of October 28, 2014. Can you please tell me the timeline for serving exhibits?

You should have served the exhibits at the same time as the RFO. Court clerks are not authorized to give legal advice and they tend to be wrong on things like that. There is a difference between lodging the documents for the court, which may not read the RFO until the day before the hearing, and having them served on your opponent who must prepare an opposition.
