Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have been harassed on and off by my ex-boyfriend for nearly a year. He constantly sends messages to both my father and I, and often makes unexpected appearances at my house, sometimes staying in the area for a while afterward. I do not know that he is a physical threat to me, but I am frightened by his antics and have come close to calling the police on several occasions. Would this be considered "domestic violence," or be enough to constitute a restraining order?

It's not domestic violence, but it qualifies as stalking that makes you apprehensive.

To clarify the above answer, if your ex-boyfriend is found to be legally stalking you; a Restraining Order will be issued.
