Legal Question in Family Law in California

My husbands ex-wife is a drug addict. We won full custody of her kid. We are stuck with life time alimony $1250 she was given the gavron warning to become self sufficient. She is doing nothing to try to get a job. Last month she was arrested for counterfeit money. I'm not sure if that information would help if We have to go to court. My question is when our income changes after he retires 9 years do we have a shot at getting her alimony reduced? Are we stuck until death or remarriage?

The length of time spousal support is paid is directly linked to the length of the marriage. More information is needed. You should return to court and request that the court establish imputed income for the ex in an effort to reduce the spousal support obligation.

Your husband would greatly benefit from meeting with an experienced family law attorney in an office consultation.
