Legal Question in Family Law in California

we've lived together for 3 years only been married 7 months. Within that short time of marriage I'm now in a horrible debt. I lost my job a few months ago and my husband doesn't want to pay for my bills. I'm thinking of divorce but I'm unsure what to do

If the debt was incurred during your marriage, it is likely a community obligation. If it was incurred before your marriage, it is likely your separate obligation. Much more information is necessary to make that determination, though. If it is a community obligation and you decide to get a divorce, the divorce will sort out who owes what. Some debts are attributed to the couple, jointly. Others may be attributable to only one of the couple. I suggest that you get a consultation from an attorney, before you make any life changing decisions.
