Parent Liability for children's debts over 18

Is a parent responsible for a child's medical bills at a hospital if the child is over 18 and the parent did not authorize admitance? Child is not covered by any insurance. (Question is for a friend of my daughter whos parents are kicking her out of the house for fear they will have creditors on their backs.)

Re: Parent Liability for children's debts over 18

Parants are obigated to support their children until they reach age 18, or if they are in high school until they are no longer a full time high school student or reach age 19, whichever occurs first. During that time they can be held responsible for medical bills whether or not the child is living in the home. That the child is living in the home or elsewhere does not make a difference.
