Legal Question in Family Law in California

After a person files a case without an attorney in family court, mediation fails and the respondent retains consul, can the petitioner retain counsel before trial? If so, can they modify the original document?

You can always retain counsel at any stage in your case however, the closer you get to a trial date the more unlikely a experienced attorney will be able to successfully intervene in your behalf.

Legal work by an attorney is needed before trial to be properly prepared.
