Legal Question in Family Law in California

Hello I have some questions about child support and what to expect if paternity is determined.

I received a letter in the mail from Ohio requesting a paternity test be taken next Monday. I have reason to believe the child is mine but the mother and I have not been in contact for quite some time. She has had other children and I believe happily married. I think she may have applied for benefits or assistance of some kind and the state is filing for support.

Currently I am a student, I am not working so Im not really sure what to do or how this works. Should I try to contact her before any hearing or should I contact Ohio family services?
