19 year old living at home has car accident

Are parents responsible for the damage done by a 19 year old boy living at home with no automobile insurance if he has an accident with his car?

Generally, no. If he owns the car (and the parents name is not on the car) and he is the driver, there would no basis for liability against the parents. I have written about this at my blog, www.calpiblog.com.

"His car" would mean in his name only. Then only he is liable, as an adult.

If the car is only under his name, I do not believe that you have anything to worry about. Anything other than that, I would worry.
