Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

I was backing out of my garage and I hit a car that was parked in my driveway. i did a small amount of damage to the other car. I have asked this person on a number of occasions not to park in my driveway when they come to visit my son, am I responsible for the damage to her car since it happened on my property, or is she responsible because she parked where she was not supposed to.

You are responsible as you backed into the vehicle. You can argue it's the other vehicle's fault but I would not expect that argument to prevail. Contact your insurance.

You are liable but neither reason you mention is relevant. You were operating a motor vehicle and struck a parked vehicle. That makes you liable period.
