Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

I noticed that a lot of Superior Court Judges are about 75-80 years old (a few almost 90 years old) and still on the bench. Are they still working as judges because they want the extra income (since at 65 they start to collect big social security payments), or because there's a shortage of judges regionally and are asked to stay on the bench to fill in voids, or is it because they like their job and enjoy what they do?

I just had to comment and laugh about your comment about "big" social security payments. I needed a good laugh this morning. You are funny! Keep it up.
