If you were stop by store security and they placed a restraining order on you for shoplifting but you did not deal with the cops or court will it still show up on your background check

Civil restraining orders are matters of public record. Whether a particular background check will reveal one depends on what the check is looking for and how thorough it is. You should presume that it will show up.

If they somehow issued a civil or criminal restraining order, that is 'on you record'. If they just issued a letter saying 'don't come back', that is private between you and them.
