Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I have 4 questions below:

If I don't return to the U.S. in a year after travel, will my permanent resident card be void?

Is there a way to apply for extension of the stay longer than 1 year in a foreign country while I am staying in a foreign country?

My 10-year permanent resident card will expire in 2017 and I am eligible for applying for Citizenship. But I am not interested in Citizenship yet. What should I do to get my resident card extended before it is expired?

If I have to apply for Citizenship before my permanent card expires while I stay in a foreign country for business, can I apply for Citizenship at the U.S. embassy in a foreign country or through online?

1. You should apply for a Re-Entry permit before you depart & then you won't have to worry about any absences between 6 mos to 2 yrs.

2. Extension of stay for what? (In regards to a Re-Entry Permit, it is valid for 2 yrs).

3. You file Form I-90 to renew your greencard for another 10 yrs. You don't have to file until 6 mos prior to its expiration.

4. You cannot apply for U.S. citizenship while outside the U.S. You must be present in the U.S. to file, & remain in the U.S. during the processing of your naturalization case.
