You can lose permanent residency

A green card is not a tourist visa that entitles the holder to come to the the US for a few weeks' visit and depart.

While having a re-entry permit may bolster a case of nonabandonment of permanent residency, if you are in fact not maintaining a permanent home in the US, having a re-entry permit may not help you if the government alleges that you have no permanent home in the US.

Do you have real properties in the US? Do you file US income tax returns every year? Do you have other ties to the US?

What work do you do outside the US?

You should review your facts and options with an attorney before leaving the US again.
