Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I came to visit the U.S on a tourist visa, while in the U.S ( California ) I gave birth to a child in a los angeles hospital on March 10th 2015. I was told that after I apply for an official birth certificate for my new born child, it could take up to 4 months to receive the birth certificate. I must go back to my country (Jordan) as soon as possible, is there any document I can expedite or obtain for my child that will allow me to travel back to my country along with my child as soon as possible? If yes, how fast and where can I obtain such document?

If you need an expedited birth certificate, you need to contact the County agency that oversees this, in the county where your child was born. Most County Registrar's offices have a website with all of the information.

If you are looking to obtain a U.S. passport or have other immigration issues regarding your child's citizenship , you would need to contact the local U.S. Department of State/passport office.

Have you received the consent of the other parent in traveling back to Jordan? This will likely come up when you are traveling back.

You should also consider obtaining the passport for the minor child and have him registered at the US embassy in Jordan so that you have no issue when (and if he) later travels to the US as a citizen.
