Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

I was in an accident on tuesday (ironically on my way home to buy insurance for my new car) without insurance. Her car seemed hardly damaged, just a small gash on the back bumper. We exchanged info, no police were called. I thought I was going to fix her bumper and my momma give her a massage and call it even. Come to find out she has contacted insurance. I have since then bought insurance. Where do i go from here? Is there a way I can not end up broke without a license? Thank you for listening! i hope you are doing well.
