Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

hi,i was driving my dads truck and got into an accident three days ago.me and the other driver exchanged insurances.but the bad thing is my dad did not add me onto the insurance.today we recieved a call from our insurance stating that i was not on the insurance policy so the claim is not approved at all.the insurance also stated that the other driver involved in the accident went directly to their dealership to state the damage done to the vehicle.so proving the other driver wants their money immediatley.my dad's insurance also stated that the driver involved knows of the claim denial and is coming for me?What will I expect, knowning i have no job and a son provided by state financial aid?

You might want to have an attorney review your insurance coverage. Under some policies, household family members are excluded unless specifically added as insureds. In other policies, if the vehicle is used with the permission of the owner, then the driver is covered under the owner's policy.

Regarding the liability situation, if you are sued, you can weigh your options about how the other driver can collect on a judgment (if any) if you have no assets to speak of. In addition, you didn't say who was at fault for the accident. Perhaps an attorney can write a strong letter to the other driver and tell him that he was at fault, and you want to be compensated. Good luck!
