Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I was employed by the Census Bureau for one week after four days of training. I was told that we would be working about 2 months and keeping the big producers the longest. I was my groups top producer yet favoritism was shown to another employee not once but twice. He was given more work along with more hours. I left after they offered me bread crumbs to stay busy 15 minutes here and there. Also I was furious when I learned about the favoritism. I know California is an at will employer so would I not have a case about showing the favortism?
