Does an employee have a right to demand to see what is in the employee's personnel file?

You have a right on reasonable notice to look and review, and to obtain a copy of anything you signed.

You should look up and be familiar with California Labor Code section 1198.5. However, you only have the right to obtain copies of documents you have signed, not the entire personnel file.
