Legal Question in Employment Law in California

a employee said the n word, i took it to a mgr and another employee heard me and now im under investigation for saying the n word even though i was just telling another mgr as im a mgr.

can i be fired for this, i have never been written up in almost 2 years of employment

thank you

my boss told me i might get fired, im under a lot of stress due to this threat

Employees are supposed to be protected in reporting violations like this to management. What you briefly describe does not seem to make sense. How would another employee complain about you if you were in a meeting with management when reporting the first problem. This should be cleared up with your explanation to the company of what actually happened. If you are instead retaliated against, then you could have your own legal claim against the company.
