Legal Question in Employment Law in California

My employer is requiring us use our real full first and last names in emails and calls. We are a call center and we get a lot of angry customers who sometimes threaten us and on some accounts search for us personally in facebok. Are there any laws that protect me from being fired if we wanted to use an alias/fake/pen names? Would this fall under general safety in the workplace if we feel threatened by using our real names?

There are no 'laws' that specifically protect you, but this is a treacherous area for both employers and employees. This is contrary to most such companies' policies. Workplace safety is an OSHA and a WCAB issue. Someone harmed by a customer that tracked them down as described would have a lawsuit against the customer and the company. The on job mental stress would be a WCAB case. This needs to be negotiated away ASAP to avoid these risks. i'm assuming there is no union or this would be gone already. If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal area, feel free to contact me. Ill be happy to help fight and get the best outcome possible
