Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Can I ask for interest on unpaid wages? Dept of Industrial Relations and the Labor Board only list receiving interest on unpaid wages if the employee has been terminated or quits. I have not been paid since 2014 and I still work for the company. The owners of company I work for state they will have the money to pay me soon and I simply want to know if I can get interest on unpaid wages and, if so, how much? I am owed wages from January 1, 2015 to now. Thank you.

If you sued in small claims court for those unpaid wages and won, you would be entitled to interest.

Yes, you can ask for interest and probably waiting time penalties. I suspect that almost one year of unpaid wages would exceed the maximum allowed in small claims. The labor board would likely be your best bet here, but you could also contact an employment attorney in your area.
