Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Is it legal for an Employer to cut all employees hours from 40 to 32 per week and then after a couple of months, give all employees, except for one, back their 40 hours per week? Thanks!

As long as they don't single out the one left at 32 hours due to race, religion, gender or other protected classification, it is perfectly legal. No employer is required to give any employee more hours than the employer needs them.
