Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I am an Operations Manager with a company in California. I will be moved from exempt status to non exempt starting on December 1st. However I have been told that my job duties and responsibilities have not changed. So in essence I am doing the same job does that mean I should have been paid overtime all along?

Possibly, but there have been changes in the law regarding overtime that go into effect in 2017. So it may also be a move to comply. You would have to talk to an attorney about the details of your job to get an evaluation of whether you have been misclassified to date.
