Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I booked a reception hall from a City on Aug.14 for my wedding. On Sept. 7 the City called me and said that they made a mistake and signed a contract with me and some other girl for the same date. The other girl signed her contract on May 14, so they said she has the right to the hall and I have to change my wedding date.. I have already sent out invitation to 170 people. The date of the wedding is Nov 28, 2009 which is Thanksgiving weekend. All my guest have made plans to be there and my boyfriend has his vacation set for that following week. His vacation cannot be changed, so my honeymoon is wrecked. They offered me the building for Dec. 5 2009 for free, but alot of my guest can;t come that weekend and we won't have a honeymoon. Do I have any kind of a case?

Sounds to me like you have a pretty good case. You will need to book another reception hall and send the City the bill for the difference in cost as well as the cost of sending out a second set of invitattions.
